Donors and agencies involved in re-building following conflict are now engaged in a better understanding of conflict and particularly conflict prevention. Conflict seems only to be in the interests of the powerful and those involved in the arms trade -it is time conflict prevention was taken more seriously. Below is a helpful training workbook -small steps taken by the many can make a difference.
Donors are increasingly involved in financing and implementation of conflict prevention and peacebuilding efforts, which are now seen as a central component of development efforts to overcome fragility and conflict throughout the world. Conflict prevention and peacebuilding training should thus be a key component of joint effort to ensure that best practice is understood and implemented at donor headquarters and in the field, and that key terms and concepts are universally understood among international actors and partners alike. The training module is an international effort to provide a consolidated high quality Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding training package for policy makers and practitioners alike. The OECD Workbook for trainers will be especially useful for training associations and training focal points working for donor agencies, governments, international organisations and NGOs.
